I took Colby's 18 month pictures today. Out of the about 15 that I took this was the only good one. Little stinker...these 18 month olds just don't understand "hold still and smile so I can get a really cute picture of you." He just wanted to play with the sticks and in the dirt (as the second picture shows). Luckily we did end up with one. I drove all the way to Willow park just so I could get the good tree background.

Katelynn Can Skip!

Katelynn and Lexy had their second week of dance yesterday and I asked Katelynn's teacher if there was anything I needed to work on at home with her. She said that Katelynn is the youngest and smallest in her class but she is doing well. She did say that Katelynn was the only one in her class that couldn't skip. It never even occurred to me to teach her to skip. So during Lexy's dance class we worked on it and I was amazed at how hard skipping actually was. Well, after working most of yesterday on it she is doing very well and she gets her knees up so high I had to take a video of it so you all could see our "little skipper."

(Faith of My Fathers) Ironically for someone who had so long asserted his own individuality as his first and best defense against insults of any kind, I discovered that faith in my self proved to be the least formidable strength I possessed when confronting alone organized inhumanity on a great scale than I had conceived possible. Faith in myself was important...but I discovered in prison that faith in myself alone, separate from other, more important allegiances (faith in God, faith in country, and faith in my fellow prisoners), was ultimately no match for the cruelty that human being could devise when they were entirely unencumbered by respect for the God-given dignity of man. This is the lesson I learned in prison. It is, perhaps the most important lesson I have even learned.
